Evaluating the 2 plot twists of high maintenance

The first plot twist of involves a 'human like' woman and her 'husband' eating dinner on their anniversary, having blunt and dead conversation as well as acting very emotionless. The plot twist is quite surprising, in which the fact that the husband is a robot. However this is quiet surprising because the audience is not expecting this as the first scene starts with two people that look like they could be together, slowly getting into an argument, and as the fact that the audience are focused on the argument, we don't really realise the certain clues that he is a robot, and therefore it is a surprise.

The second plot twist may seem less surprising as people may have seen it coming, this twist involves the woman ordering a new robot she customised herself and it shows the same situation as the first scene happening again, and this is when you realise that actually she may be a robot, and the twist is the fat that the new robot she ordered reversed the roles with what she done to the 1st robot and switches her power off.

However this first plot twist does not seem very logical in the fact that although he was a robot, it would make no sense to the fact that she is sitting down eating with a robot acting like it is her husband and then starting an argument with him. It also is not logical in the fact that it defies the actual idea of a robot where we  are set to think that a robot should be there to serve and help out the owner with tasks.

CONNECT SHORT FILM ANALYSIS - JULIAN

Connect explores how imagination and emotion binds in with the real life, one major factor that shows this is when the camera shows all of the civilians faces on the bus by uing close hand held shots. When the camera zooms in on their faces they look emotionless, almost as if they are disjointed from reality, from the real world. This could be because they are imagining certain things and feeeling emotion on the inside. When the girl puts in her headphones as the music fades in she also zones out and starts imagining things primarily being shown that as soon as she zones out all of a sudden the businessman assassinates the old lady to take her seat, but then the girl zones back in so the music is stopped and the scenery is back to normal.

January Mock Exam Question 2021

Question ' The director is the most important creative influence on the production and content of a film '.     How far do you agree with this statement when applied to both of your chosen films ?   Films chosen: -Casablanca -Apocalypse now  Answer: I somewhat agree with this statement as Directors are seen as the lead role off-camera when a movie is in production. Michael Curtz (Director of Casablanca) and Francis Ford Coppola (Director of Appocolypse now) are the main reasons why both of the films recieved the attention and criticism it deserved.  An introduction to this point is the era of film making, 'new hollywood'. Links to our point as one of the most controversial films out of the 2 chosen was made in the middle of this era; Apocalypse Now (1979). In fact this film was released 1 year before 'New Hollywood' started to end, however it was in production for 3 years and it was set to release on Coppola's 38th birthday, April 7 1977. Compared to this, ...

City Of God Openening scene analysis

City Of God Openening scene analysis Through photography, mise-en-scene, sound, and editing, City Of God conveys the concepts of disorder and anarchy in the favella to the audience. This is demonstrated in the first scene, when the gang is chasing the chicken. The first thing we see in the movie, for example, is a knife being sharpened against a stone. Knives are normally hazardous things, and the fact that it is being sharpened against a stone suggests a barbaric lifestyle: this is foreshadowing Lil Z's brutal lifestyle, which he imposes on his gang through proxy. This quickly builds suspense and makes the spectator question the characters' motives. The editing heightens the suspense by using almost whiplash-inducing, flashing cuts between the knife and the dark screen, reinforcing the sense of urgency. Normally, a barbecue would be a joyful, tranquil, and familiar sight; but, the tight camera angles and fast cuts disrupt this. The sequence cuts back and forth between sever...
